Too often people will consider video for an event as a simple item that any one with a $500 camera from their local electronic retailer and some basic free editing software can do.
They do not see the need or the advantages of hiring a professional.
So what are they..
- I have the right stuff
the gear not only the $5000 camera, but the tripod, the lights, the wireless mic, the back up camera
- I have the responsibilty and job to video the event
- And most importantly… I have the experience
To know how to cover your event
To know how to shoot and edit it
And how to put the whole thing together with graphics, titles, music narration, placement on the net and/or on dvd with menus, chapters and packageing

How do they present themselves, how is their appearance, their attitude, approach and do they possess the neccessary equipment to be a professional?
References
Do they have references to show you from satisfied clients? How about references from other sources such as associations, BBB, and from within the industry itself?
Technology
Are they using up to date camera and editing equipment? Do they use lights, tripods, proper sound equipment and wireless microphones?
Personal
Are you talking to and meeting with the actual Videographer who will be taping your wedding?
What is their background and experience?
Do you personally get a good feeling from them?
How do they dress for the wedding?
- Service
What exactly are you getting? Check items such as:
a. Duration of video taping?
b. How many cameras and type (3 chips better than one)?
c. Format of tape used and edited to . . . SVHS, HI8, Digital non-linear editing, HD or Standard Definition?
d. What style does the Videographer have . . . Documentary, Hollywood, etc.?
e. Do you get to choose the effects, titles, and music?
f. Do you get the original footage?
g. How many copies?
h. Do you get a highlight tape and what does it include?
i. When will the tape be ready, is it written down in the form of a contract or letter of agreement?
- Cost
Is it clearly spelled out and what are the terms? What about taxes?
- Quality and Workmanship
Have you viewed their Demo Reel? It may be advisable to ask to view clips from the last wedding they have taped.

For a Bride and Groom to kiss, try one of these:
Top Ten List, place paper and pens on each of the tables, have guests come up to mic with their top ten lists. Example: Top Ten reasons the bride married the groom or top ten reasons why the guests come to the wedding.
Sing a Song, with the word "love" in it or "sweet" or "honey".
Follow the Kiss, select a table and someone at that table must kiss their partner then the bridal couple must follow, in kissing the same way.
Couple Quiz, each table is to ask a question about the bridal couple.
Get it right, bridal bridal couple kisses, get it wrong, all couples at table kiss.
Bubbles (after the ceremony) instead of rice or confetti.
Cameras on tables for guests to take pictures.
If buffet, tables have to sing song with "love" in it to go up and eat.
Large video screen presentation of photos of bridal couple as they grew up and together.
Circle dances- all guys form circle around the bride and dance with her, then all gals form circle around groom and dance with him.
Special Dances- YMCA, Macarena, Limbo, Conga Line, Chicken.
Last Dance- everyone forms circle around bridal couple as they go around in opposite directions bidding everyone goodbye.
Arch way is formed that the bridal couple passes through, stopping at each guest to bid them goodbye.

Unless otherwise noted, the telephone area code is (604).
